AFT Insulation is the leading manufacturer of cellulose loose-fill insulation products. The company is known for its environmental responsibility with products made from over 85% recycled paper fibers, primarily from recovered newsprint and cardboard.
Cellulose is a natural thermal/acoustical insulation that provides superior comfort and value in new and existing homes. Its high R-value makes it an ideal choice for new construction or remodeling projects. R-values are determined by the insulation thickness, with a higher value providing greater protection against heat loss.
The Importance of Professional Installation: AFT Insulation’s Expertise
The R-values used to calculate heat loss in walls are based on a material’s ability to inhibit convective transfer of heat between the air and the wall surface, compared to the amount it inhibits radiative transfer from the surface to the outside air. However, many factors affect the actual R-value of a wall, including:
In AFT Fathom, an insulation material is added to a pipe or duct in the Pipes Properties window when a convective heat transfer model is selected. This can have an effect on pressure drop calculations.
In a stud wall, when insulation is installed on the inside of the wall, it will reduce the diameter of the pipe or duct, and can change the pressure drop calculations. AFT Fathom accounts for this in the pipe properties by adjusting the internal friction characteristics of the pipe in the Edit Insulations panel.
